Passing by at Linz, Austria

I really did not go around Linz in Austria. We just had a short stop-over here last June 2007 during my adventure with a friend. We don't have much time to go around the city because we need to catch up the next train going to Vienna, Austria. At least I saw a little bit of Linz. Hopefully, I can go back in this city next time.

Linz is the third largest city of Austria and capital of the state of Upper Austria (German: Oberösterreich). It is located in the north centre of Austria, approximately 30 km south of the Czech border, on both sides of the river Danube. The population of the city itself is 189,343 (2007), and 271,000 in the Greater Linz conurbation.

Venice, Italy

I had been to Venice twice already. The first time was in October 2005 and the second was last April 2006. I love this city too. We had last April 2006 a porcelain shopping in Nova, Italia (Nove, Italy) and then proceeded in Venice. We had some very funny experience there with friends..I guess I don't need to share it here...hope to be back next time in this city.

I Love Vienna, Austria

I am just remembering my adventure in Wien (in German) or Vienna, Austria last June 2007 with a friend. I have been to some places in Europe. Each and every places, cities or countries is unique and has its own beauty. if you have to ask me about Vienna, for me it is really a magnificent place with a lot to offer to its visitor. I am not so sure if Rome or Paris is more beautiful than Vienna. I have not been yet in these cities. I will be visiting these cities one of these days. By the end of the month, we are finally going to Paris. Thanks to a dear friend Liway who booked our trip. I just had a one day adventure with a friend here in Vienna and I believed a day to explore this capital city of Austria is not enough. I am hoping to visit it again next time. The Hofburg is the location of the Schatzkammer (treasury), holding the imperial jewels of the Habsburg dynasty. The Sisi Museum (a museum devoted to Empress Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie of Austria) allows visitors to view the Imperial apartments as well as the silver cabinet. Directly opposite the Hofburg are the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Naturhistorisches Museum, which houses many paintings by old masters, ancient and classical artifacts.

Hofburg Imperial Palace is a palace in Vienna, Austria, which has housed some of the most powerful people in Austrian history, including the Habsburg dynasty, rulers of the Austro-Hungarian empire. It currently serves as the official residence of the President of Austria. It was the Habsburg's principal winter residence, while Schönbrunn Palace was their preferred summer residence. The Palace was the birthplace of Marie Antoinette in 1755.

Warwick Castle in England

another great place to visit in England is the famous and most preserved Warwick Castle. My friend Dae Loy, toured me here yesterday!! Planning To Visit Disney World in Orlando, Florida!

Happy Wednesday to everyone! I finally have the chance to be in the virtual world right now. After some hours of cleaning the house and spending some time in our garden, I am finally here to share some travel and entertainment infos. Have you been to Disney World? I know that there are a lot of Disneyland and Disney World around the globe. I am happy to say that I was in Disneyland, California last year. This should be a Euro travel post but today I am featuring my great vacation in the US and my plan to visit Disney World in Orlando, Florida next year.

During my two months vacation in the US, I am happy and thankful that I had the chance to visit Disneyland, California and hopefully will visit Disney World next time. I tell you guys that was a lot of fun! It seems that I was back to my childhood as I enjoyed some rides and shows there. I should also be going to Orlando Waterparks because my cousin and her family from Las Vegas invited me to go with them. Sad to say that at the time they flew to Orlando Florida, it was also my flight back to Europe.

My cousin told me that Orlando's Disney water parks is truly a nice place for entertainment, enjoyment or simply to relax. She even told me that once in a while in her life, she always forget all her problems everytime they go to entertainment and parks like this. I had seen their photos in her site and I saw that they truly had fun especially in Disney's Blizzard Beach and Sea World. I wish to go there in my next trip to the US. I know for sure that I will enjoy Orlando's Disney water parks. My cousin told me that Disney World is bigger compared to Disneyland, California.

Hohensalzburg Castle in Salzburg, Austria

hello everyone! I am here again! I'll let you travel this time to one of the largest medieval castles in Europe, the Hohensalzburg castle in Salzburg, Austria.

This is one thing I love in Europe, the historical buildings like castles, churches and cathedrals. It has a length of 250 meters and a width of 150 meters. isn't it huge? It is enough for me to see the castle because I know that I don't have the chance to have one...lol! This castle is considered to be one of the most preserved castles in Europe...amazing! To give you more historical information about the castle, I consulted the help of Wikipedia. Keep reading below and know some history.

History of Hohensalzburg Castle

Construction of the fortress began in 1077 under Archbishop Gebhard von Helfenstein. This original design was just a basic bailey with a wooden wall. In Salzburg, the Archbishops were powerful political figures, and they expanded the castle to protect their interests. The Investiture Controversy influenced the expansion of the castle, with the Salzburg Archbishops taking the side of the Pope. The castle was gradually expanded during the following centuries. The ring walls and towers were built in 1462 under Burkhard II of Weißpriach. Prince Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach further expanded the castle.

The only time that the fortress came under siege was in 1525, when a group of miners, farmers and townspeople tried to oust Prince Archbishop Cardinal Matthäus Lang, but failed to take the castle. During the Thirty Years' War, Count Paris of Lodron strengthened the town's defenses, including Hohensalzburg. He added various parts to the fortress, such as the gunpowder stores and additional gatehouses. The fort was surrendered without a fight during the Napoleonic Wars. In the 19th century, it was used as a barracks, storage depot and dungeon before being abandoned as a military outpost in 1861.

During the early 20th century it was used as a prison, holding Italian prisoners of war during World War I and Nazi activists (before the Anschluss with Germany) in the 1930s. It was refurbished in the 20th century and became a major tourist attraction, with a cable car, built in 1900, leading up from the town to the Hasengrabenbastei. It stands today as one of the best preserved castles in Europe.

The Hohensalzburg was recently selected as main motif for the Austrian Nonnberg Abbey commemorative coin minted in April 5, 2006. This was the first coin of the series "Great Abbeys of Austria". It shows the Benedictine convent of Nonnberg Abbey. In the hilltop on the background, the castle and the Kajetaner church can be seen. Mother Shipton's Cave in Knaresborough, England

Have you heard of Ursula Southeil or Mother Shipton from Knaresborough, England? I tell you guys, I have been to the birthplace of this famous prophetess from England last Nov. 11, 2008 to be exact. The bad thing is, I was not able to go inside her ugly cave. That sounds quite interesting and horrible!! I guess not really but probably a good adventure. My friend, Ross from Harrogate accompanied me as we went to Knaresborough. We don't have the time to go inside Mother Shipton's cave because I have to catch up my trip back to Birmingham. In short I don't have the chance to have a little adventure. Ursula Southeil (c. 1488 - 1561) (possibly Ursula Sonthiel), better known as Mother Shipton, was an English soothsayer and prophetess who is said to have made dozens of unusually accurate predictions, including the Great Plague of London, the Spanish Armada, and the Great Fire of London.

Although documented evidence cannot be found it is generally accepted that the figure of Mother Shipton must have existed, although some of her prophecies were composed by others in retrospect, after her death. Her prophecies were apparently recorded in a series of diaries, the first publication of her work did not appear until 1641, eighty years after her death and said to have been compiled from the recollections of a Joanne Waller, a maid to Ursula Sontheil. The most notable book of her prophecies was published in 1684. It states that she was born in Knaresborough, Yorkshire, in a cave now known as Mother Shipton's Cave, and was reputed to be hideously ugly. The book also claims that she married Toby Shipton, a local carpenter, near York in 1512 and is said to have told fortunes and made predictions throughout her life.

Saint Mark's Basilica (Italian: Basilica di San Marco a Venezia), the cathedral of Venice, is the most famous of the city's churches and one of the best known examples of Byzantine architecture. It lies on St Mark's Square (in the San Marco sestiere or district) adjacent and connected to the Doge's Palace. Originally it was the "chapel" of the Venetian rulers, and not the city's cathedral. Since 1807 it has been the seat of the Patriarch of Venice, archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice. For its opulent design, gilded Byzantine mosaics, and its status as a symbol of Venetian wealth and power, from the 11th century on the building was known by the nickname Chiesa d'Oro (Church of gold).

Vienna, Austria

Vienna, one of the cities that I love in Europe. This was taken last June 2007 during my first adventure to Vienna with a friend. They are making some excavation at the fenced part in my background. I guess they are trying to find some historical relics here. I can't exactly remember what is the name of the street here..any idea? now i finally search where is this place. Lord Mayor's parade in London

I was lucky to witness the Lord Mayors parade in London last Nov . 08, 2008. I was there! This parade only happens when there is a newly elected Mayor in London. Sorry guys, for now I don't know exactly how often they have this. any idea out there?? My friend in London told me that, As long as there is a newly elected mayor, then this parade is taking place. It was raining very strong as we watched this parade. See the street, it is very wet...I guess this is the weather in London all the time. you can be very lucky if it is sunny when you go there!! happy trip in advance!!

My Euro Travel

I'm travelling again. As what I had mentioned in my previous post that I just arrived in Birmingham yesterday safely. Oh well, I will not be travelling alone, my friend Dae Loy will be with me. We plan to go to Barcelona, Madrid and Rome..We will see but for sure we will be visiting any two cities and more more cities here in United Kingdom. I was just browsing for a site about hotels in Madrid. I found very cheap ones at Hotels Madrid Norte. As you know Madrid is one of Spain's great city that attracts millions of visitor each year from all over the world.

How I also wish that I can visit Florence next time. Considering Romantic hotels in Florence can be a great experience especially if you travel with your love ones...or your husband for example!..Lisbon is also a very nice city in Europe. It is the largest city and capital of Portugal. I know that I can visit this great city next time. Of course staying in one of Lisbon hotels can be great. Great Britain, I am Coming!!

I am quite excited with my visit to Great Britain starting Monday, October 27 , 2008! It is my first time there and I know there will be a lot of fun and adventures again!! It also means a lot of walking and walking and walking!! Do you think I still need alli? I am really planning too!! If I can't find a way to get back my figure five years ago, I might force to take some! The picture in the background is the Buckingham Palace in London..and of course, starring my friend Dae Loy, who will be my tour guide!! The area on which Prague was founded was settled in ancient times since the Paleolithic Age. Around 200 BC the Celts had a settlement in the south, called Závist, but later they were replaced by Germanic tribes. The Slavs conquered the site from the 4th century AD onward, though for a period were subdued by the Eurasian Avars. According to a legend, Prague was founded by the Princess Libuše and her husband, Přemysl, founder of the dynasty with the same name. Whether this legend is true or not, Prague's first nucleus was founded in the latter part of the 9th century as a castle on a hill commanding the right bank of the Vltava: this is known as Vyšehrad ("high castle") to differentiate from another castle which was later erected on the opposite bank, the future Prague Castle. Soon the city became the seat of the dukes and kings of Bohemia. It was an important seat for trading where merchants coming from all Europe settled, including many Jews, as recalled in 965 by the Jewish merchant and traveller Ibrahim ibn Ya'qub. The Old New Synagogue of 1270 survives. The city became a bishopric in 973.

King Vladislav II had a first bridge on the Vltava built in 1170, the Judith Bridge, which crumbled down in 1342. The Charles Bridge was later built on its foundations.

In 1257, under King Otakar II, Malá Strana ("Lesser Quarter") was founded in Prague in the future Hradčany area: it was the district of the German people. These had the right to administrate the law autonomously, pursuant to Magdeburg Rights. The new district was on the opposite bank of the Staré Město ("Old Town"), which had a borough status and was defended by a line of walls and fortifications.

I finally visited Prague in Czech Republic. I was astound by the beauty of Prague especially its old buildings and the history it brings. Other people might not like old buildings but since I love history and historical places, I am always fascinated how the people in the old times managed to built and maintained these old buildings and bring them to life until now. I have been to some places and cities here in Europe and I would say Prague is worthwhile visiting. I will give you more updates about my experiences in my Prague. I have to get ready now for a walk with my husband. Its Sunday and that's what we usually do. I am just quite frustrated with my blackheads especially on my nose area. I have to take a quick remedy about it..
