Happy To Experience the Christmas Market in Birmingham, England

Bear with me when I will be sharing articles of the Christmas markets I visited in Europe. So let  me begin!

I was so happy  experiencing the Christmas Market in Birmingham, England. I had a perfect timing when I visited this city last October-November 2008 because the Christmas market was going that time. Thanks to my friend from England Dae Loy for touring me around including this city.

The Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market is now running for 11 years in this city and became the center of the city's annual Christmas events calendar. Many tourists and locals from all over United Kingdom and Europe visit this famous event during the holiday season.

I enjoyed as well my visit to this city four years ago. I would say it is the highlight of my visit in Birmingham last 2008. I believe many  of you know what you can experience when visiting a Christmas market in Europe.

Here are some information about the 2012 Christmas market in Birmingham.
Venue: Victoria Square, New Street, Centenary Square & Chamberlain Square 
Date: 15th November – 22 December Time: 10am – 9pm

Many people can be found walking and  roaming in front of the The Council House, headquarters of Birmingham City Council.

Sights Not To Miss When Visiting Birmingham, England

Have you been to Birmingham? There are a lot of Birmingham places around the world and I am particularly talking here about Birmingham in England. I am glad that I was able to visit this city and experience most of its sights. I was forced to visit England last 2008 because I found a cheap flight online. As far as I can remember the return ticket I booked from Ryanair last autumn 2008 only cost around 75.00 Euros. That was really very cheap.

Here are of the sights I recommend not to miss when you are there.

Victoria Square- This is one of the areas I love in Birmingham. It was formerly called the Council House Square but was renamed on January 10, 1901, to honour Queen Victoria. Her statue was erected an unveiled here. The Town Hall and the Council House are also located in this square. One thing that caught my attention during our visit was a woman statue in the middle of "The River", better known as The Floozie in the Jacuzzi, in front of the Council House. It is nice to sit and relax on this beautiful square in Birmingham especially during summer season.

Birmingham Central Library- This library is located near Victoria Square. It is the main public library in Birmingham, England and the also considered as the largest non-national library in Europe. The Bournville Village Trust Archive, the Boulton and Watt collection, Canal Historical Society Library and the Charles Parker Archive and the Railway are only some of the special collections in this library.

Canals in Birmingham- I am thankful that my friend also toured me in this area of Birmingham. We had a walk along the Canals of Birmingham in the city center and I found it very interesting especially seeing the sights along it. This is one of the best ways to explore Birmingham City.

It is said that Birmingham has more canals than Venice in the middle of the 18th Century. Imagine a city having 174 miles of canal. Now only 114 miles of them remain as navigable water, most of the rest has completely disappeared.

Bullring Shopping Center- If you love shopping, this place would be a paradise for you since this is the major commercial area in Birmingham. This shopping center houses the first Forever 21 store in Europe, one of only four Selfridges department stores and the fourth largest Debenhams.

I am quite contented walking around inside this mall and did some window shopping. I also admire the architecture of the Selfridges building in Bullring Shopping Center. Never miss this famous shopping mall when visiting Birmingham.

There are still a lot of sights to see in this city. I might not be able to see everything but at least, I have seen the most interesting ones. I wish I could stay longer in England that time but I guess a three-week stay is already enough. I also found out that there are a lot of cheap flights to Germany departing from Birmingham International Airport. Since I missed my actual return flight that time, I ended up buying a new. For a last minute flight, I guess 70.00 sterling pounds is not too bad. Lastly, I can say that I truly enjoyed my three weeks stay in England. It was fun and a lot of memories especially in Birmingham.

It Was Raining in Birmingham, England

I am traveling back in time again.It is almost four years now since I visited England. One of the places which my friend showed me was Birmingham, a city in the West Midlands of England. It is quite an interesting city full of sights and other things that a tourist can expect.

One of the sights we visited was the Council House. It is the home of Birmingham City Council and is located in Victoria Square.

The Town Hall of Birmingham, England

Thanks to the invention of digital camera where we can always easily retrieve and share photos online. I am also happy to share some travel photos with you through this blog. It been over three years now since I visited England. One of the cities where my friend showed me was Birmingham. This city is considered to the populous city in England.

What I have below is an image of Birmingham Town Hall. You might be wondering why it is lighted. It is because Christmas is almost approaching during my visit there last 2008. In fact they also a Christmas market located very near to this building.

The Town Hall is located near Victoria Square. Aside from being use as a concert hall, it is also now used as the venue for Graduation Ceremonies of Aston University every year.

Bullring Birmingham, England

Let's go travel and visit some places in Europe again! We are visiting Birmingham today. For sure, most and maybe all women out there would be happy visiting the famous mall in Birmingham, England. Bullring is a commercial in center in Birmingham located near St. Martin's Church. It is considered to be the busiest shopping center in the United Kingdom. You can find inside the mall one of only four Selfridges department stores, the fourth largest Debenhams and the first Forever 21 store in Europe.

It was an interesting experience visiting this part of Europe.

I had the chance to walk on the Parametric Bridge which connects the Selfridges store to the car park. It was raining when we visited Birmingham last Oct. 28, 2008. During my three weeks vacation in England, I had been to Birmingham a lot of times because this is where we always rode trains going to London, Harrogate, Manchester, Stratford Upon Avon and some other places in England. I miss my visit in England. I am still hoping to visit it again.

I am trying to remember my travels again. I was browsing my travel images awhile ago and found some pictures which were taken in Birmingham. It is located in West Midlands and by local authority district became Britain's second largest city.

The image you see below was taken in Chamberlain Square, a public square in Birmingham. It was named after Joseph Chamberlain, a famous and influential British who is a statesman, politician and businessman. This square is adjacent to Victoria Square.

The buildings located in this square include the Town Hall, the Central Library of Birmingham, the Council House, Big Brum, Birmingham Museum of Art and Gallery and Paradise Forum.

Visit to the Cadbury World Birmingham, England

I remembered my visit with a friend to Cadbury World as I was browsing the images I had during my vacation in England. If you happened to eat any Cadbury products, I know for sure that you know about Cadbury UK. It is a Bristish confectionery company, based in the Bournville suburb of Birmingham.

It was November 2008 when I had the chance to visit this factory. Of course, I bought some chocolates here.

HISTORY OF CADBURY

In 1824, John Cadbury began vending tea, coffee and, later, chocolate at Bull Street in Birmingham and sometimes in India. The company was known as "Cadbury Brothers Limited". After John Cadbury's retirement, his sons, Richard and George, opened a major factory in the purpose-built suburb of Bournville, four miles south of the city.

After World War I, Cadbury Brothers Limited undertook a financial merger with J.S. Fry & Sons Limited. In 1969, it merged with Schweppes to form the international confectionery and beverage company Cadbury Schweppes (now Cadbury plc). In 1989, the company purchased Trebor Bassett, forming the UK confectionery subsidiary "Cadbury Trebor Bassett".

As of August 2004, Cadbury Trebor Bassett had 3,000 members of staff in eight factories in the UK, including Bournville, Sheffield, Marlbrook and Somerdale.

In 2009, Cadbury Trebor Bassett was renamed Cadbury UK and in early 2010 was taken over by American giant Kraft.

A new chain of Cadbury Cocoa House cafes was opened in October 2010, created by four British entrepreneurs and operating under licence. The first branch opened at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent, UK. more here

The Victoria Square in Birmingham, England

Let's visit part of Great Britain this time. I am featuring Birmingham, England in this article especially the famous Victoria Square. It is located near Chamberlain Square. It is a pedestrianised public square in Birmingham. This where the Town Hall and the Council House are also located. Three major roads, Colmore Row, New Street and Paradise Street meet there. It was formerly called as Council House Square but renamed to honour Queen Victoria on January 10, 1901.

Christmas Market in Birmingham, England

It is still Christmas market fever in Europe. From the different towns and cities in Germany to countries like Switzerland, France, England, Austria, Czech Republic and other European cities that held it, all are worthy to visit.

If I am not mistaken the Christmas markets in Germany will last until the 23rd of December. So hurry up and take time to visit before it is over.

I am also sharing some images from the Christmas market in Birmingham, England. I am happy that I was there with a friend last November 2008. Most traders in Birmingham's Christmas market are from Frankfurt, Germany. It is considered to be one of the largest Christmas market in the United Kingdom. It attracts more than two millions of visitors every year.

It's Me in Birmingham, England

In guess it is time for us to go back to England. This time I am sharing an image of me taken by my friend. Thanks a lot Loy for all the images that you took of me and for the accommodation and for touring me. I truly appreciate it. I remember that I had a sleepless night during my first night in England. I guess I was only excited because it was my first time in England. I was thinking to take some sleep pills but I don't have any. I have not seen one in my life either. The Market in Birmingham, England

When I had time, I want to go inside the market in Birmingham, England. Sad to day, we were always in a hurry that we don't have enough time go a bit shopping here. My friend told me that you can find here cheap and fresh fruits and vegetables. I would love to always eat these stuffs in order for me not to take a look at apidexin reviews. I even don't know what fruits were the ones in yellow colors here? I was imagining these were mangoes. I love these tropical fruits from my home country. Anyway, this image was taken last November 2008 during my visit in England.

Victoria's Monument in Victoria Square, Birmingham, England

Good morning folks! Let's go travel in Europe again! I am finally back here to share some updates. How would like seeing the monument of Queen Victoria in Victoria Square, Birmingham, England? I got here a picture showing the monument of Queen Victoria. The monument was originally built by Thomas Brock in 1901 and was made of marble. In 1951, William Bloye recasted it to bronze. You can also see the City Hall of Birmingham in the background of the photo.

Victoria Square is a pedestrianised public square in Birmingham, England. It is home to both the Town Hall and the Council House, and directly adjacent to Chamberlain Square.

The square is often considered to be the centre of Birmingham, and is the point from where local road sign distances are measured. It is a short walk from St. Philip's Cathedral on Colmore Row and is on the main pedestrian route between the Bull Ring and Brindleyplace areas. This is a sign I saw during our long walk around Birmingham, England last 2008. Signs usually help us find and determine the direction of a certain place. Signs can also give us warnings of anything especially road signs. I can remember walking around Birmingham with a friend even during those rainy weather. I thought I can lose weight fast if I will keep on walking and walking during my trips and adventure but I guess sometimes it is just not working. You know why? because after a long walk and I get hungry, I start to eat a lot again. What a bad habit of me. Visit to Birmingham, England

I believed that the date stamped in my picture here is very visible to your eyes. This was the exact time and date when I visited Birmingham, England. I am very thankful that I don't have anymore an acne problem during my visit here. Thanks goodness to the power of medicine and acne cream that helped me got rid of it. This picture was taken in between the City Hall and the Council House of Birmingham. if I am not mistaken this is the so-called Victoria square also. That building in the background with the clock is the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. We don't had the chance to go inside this museum because we don't have enough time. At least I see how Birmingham looks like. Thanks to my friend Loloy for the accommodation and tour in Birmingham and other cities in England. It is truly appreciated.

My Euro Travel in Birmingham's Christmas Market

Happy Christmas Birmingham! These are th words written in the Christmas lights in front of the building in my background. I remember those escapades that I had in England with my dear friend Dae Loloy and other friends too. That was such great experiences seeing parts of England including the Christmas Market in Birmingham, England. Imagine experiencing the second largest populous city in Britain! That building you see in the background is the Birmingham City Council House. Victoria Square is also located near this building. St. Martin Church near Bull Ring in Birmingham, England

This is the first photo that I browsed in my files to share here. You can see in the background St. Martin, a church located between Bull Ring Mall and the markets in Birmingham, England. It said to be the original parish church of Birmingham. This Victorian church was said to be constructed in the 13th century. It has the following dimension; from east to west the length of the church is 155ft., including the chancel, the arch of which rises to 60ft.; the width, including nave (25ft.) and north and south aisles, is 67ft.; at the transepts the width is 104ft.

This is one thing I love about Europe, the historical buildings and architecture that are still preserved up to this time. You can also see in the background that hand statue that holds the world. I don't exactly remember the name of this statue. I will research about this one next time. Of course, that's me again in the photo..feel free to click the image for a bigger view.

Beautiful Lights at Birmingham Christmas Market

Here is another Europe adventure that I had. This time I am bringing you to Birmingham's Christmas Market. Don't you know that most of the kiosks' owners here came from Germany. You can find a lot of stuffs here from food to entertainment, Christmas decors and a lot more. Did you also notice the different lights that they have here. I guess this is one of the reasons that made this celebration more lively and attractive. Without light, this can be very dull and dark!

Christmas is almost here. I know I can't go back to Birmingham this time because I will be spending a long vacation back home. I am even thinking of some ideas about home lighting. Since I will be celebrating Christmas in my home country, I would love that it will be a memorable one. I am planning to do some home improvements too like the lighting. Finding A Cheap Flight

I am planning long time ago for my vacation this year back in my home country. It is almost three years not that I did not visit home. I guess I am just busy with my Europe trip! wink! Some days ago, I have been browsing for cheap flights. I believed everybody wants a cheap holiday and cheap flights at the same time.
