Tillyfest In Breitenbrunn, Germany
Breitenbrunn is a municipality in Neumarkt in Upper Palatinate, Bavaria, Germany. You can witness the famous and historical event here called Tillyfest. It is held every year during the month of September. This year's celebration took place last September 11-12, 2010. Breitenbrunn is probably a friend of the gods of weather because during the celebration, the weather was friendly. There was no rain during our visit on the second day. The highlight of the celebration was the Festzug or the historical parade where you can see participants wearing colourful and attractive Medieval costumes.
Here are some of the images I took during this year's celebration.
The two days celebration was another success. Here you can witness a huge medieval army camp. Wherever you look around, tents, soldiers, both young and old are wearing beautiful Medieval costumes. Bavarian crusaders, Swedish dragon and other participants like minstrels and gypsies are enjoying this historical event.
Here are some of the images I took during this year's celebration.

Lebkuchen Herzen in Regensburger Herbsdult
Four years ago, I told him to stop baking those stuffs or else, I need earlier to look for diet supplement reviews. I believed I really need one right now. I always wanted to lose weight the past months. Since I live in Germany, I already gained around 15 kilos which is too much for me. Now I realized that I really need to start losing weight.
Lastly, for more information about Lebkuchen, its is somewhat called as gingerbread in English. The one you see in my image here is a non-traditional decorated Lebkuchen Herzen or Gingerbread hearts. These are the ones that you see in Oktoberfest and any other festivals in Germany. I took this image during our visit to the Regensburger Herbstdult the other weekend.

Middle Age Spectacle in Velburg, Bavaria, Germany
That was a spectacular day last Sunday June 27, 2010 as we witnessed the Mittelalter Spektakel, German words for Middle Age Spectacle in Velburg, a municipality in Neumarkt Upper Palatinate in Bavaria, Germany. It is a three days program commemorating the 600th foundation anniversary of Velburg. The highlight of the program was the parade held last Sunday at 2:00PM. I will share more about this in my Travel and Explore Germany site hopefully this week. Here are some of the images I took during the festival.
Participants of the parade were wearing Middle Age Costumes. It was truly a successful event. Horses adorned with ornaments and carriages are also present during the parade.

Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany
Let's go travel Europe again! This time we are visiting Germany's famous celebration! Don't you know that Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany is the world's biggest fair? Yes, it is! It is also considered as one of the famous events in Germany and considered to be a part of the Bavarian Culture. I remember that we also have an Oktoberfest at the town where I grew -up in the Philippines. It is also modeled after Munich's Oktoberfest. Millions of visitors from all over the world come to Munich to take part and witness the said celebration.
Oktoberfest is a two-week festival or a 16 day festival to be exact and is held every year during the last week of September until first week of October. I had been to this festival twice already. Below are some of the photographs I took last 2008. The festival is held on an area named the Theresienwiese (field, or meadow, of Therese), often called d’ Wiesn for short.
"The original "Oktoberfest" occurred in Munich, on October 18, 1810: For the commemoration of their marriage, Crown Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen (namesake of the Theresienwiese festival grounds) organized a great horse race (the marriage took place on October 12; the horse race on October 17—therefore, there are different dates named as being the first Oktoberfest)."wikipedia

Dultfest in Regensburg, Bavaria, Germany
How about talking about German fairs and festivals this time. I have been to a lot of festivals in Germany. To name a few are the famous and biggest fair in the world which is Oktoberfest in Munich, Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Gäubodenvolksfest in Straubing, Landshuter Hochzeit in Landshut, Tillyfest in Breitenbrunn, Neumarkter Volksfest, and some other more.
This time, I am talking about Dultfest in Regensburg, a city in Bavaria, Germany. I am trying to find out what does Dult means but it seems that I cannot find its real meaning in English. Dultfest which is composed of two words, dult and fest in which Dult, I believed is simply a name given to this festival (fest in German). Regensburg is celebrating every year two Dultfest. One is called the Maidult which is celebrated every month of May. The other one is the Herbstdult which is celebrated during the month of September. The one that I witnessed last time was the Herbstdult.
We happened to visit Regenburg last May 2009 but we never bother going to the festival. I am hoping that we will visit Maidult next month. Maidult fun fair is considered to be one of the first big festival of the year in Bayern or Bavaria. Unlike Oktoberfest wherein beer consumption is very famous, Dultfest is considered to be a family fun festival. Here are some photos taken last year from Herbstdult in Regensburg.

My Euro Travel to the Festival in Neumarkt, Germany
I did already mentioned and shared some pictures in my Explore Germany site about the Festival in Neumarkt which is called Jura-Volksfest. Most of the visitors of this festival are coming for neighboring places like in the Upper Palatinate region, Middle Franconia, Upper Bavaria and Upper Franconia. You can also find here different rides such as Ferris wheel, roller coaster, free fall and a lot more. Different foods and delicacies are also found in different kiosks and restaurants here. You can also expect beer and bratwurst and other German sausages. I wish to share more pictures and information about this festival next time.
Here are the pictures I had from last year's festival.

I just posted some pictures and information about Tillyfest in my Travel and Explore Germany site. Feel free to visit there if you want to know more about this festival. Tillyfest is a festival in Breitenbrunn, a municipality in the district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria, Germany. That was a very nice and friendly weather today especially during the historical parade that took place this afternoon. In this historical celebration, you can also find and experience the so-called Bavarian culture and tradition. There were also a lot of tents where some groups of participants stayed overnight for the duration of the two-day celebration, kiosks and stalls that sells local delicacies, wines, beers, historical clothes especially during the Medieval times, house decors, jewelries and a lot more.
Feel free to also visit my other blogs because I will be sharing more photos from this festival. Have fun viewing the photos!

Thier costumes are quite interesting! I thought I can only see these in movies but now I already see them most of the time especially during festivals like the Tillyfest.

Volksfest, Festival in Neumarkt, Bavaria, Germany
Good evening everyone! Let's talk about festival again. Life is just so short that we will not enjoy it. The picture below was taken during the parade of Neumarkt Volksfest in Bavaria, Germany. This celebration is also a part of Bavarian culture and tradition. It is a festival which is held in this city every year during the month of August. It usually last for a week. I guess it's been five consecutive years now that I always attend this festival. It is always fun and I love it. Last month was the first time that I witnessed their parade. I was amazed because more than hundreds of groups participated during the parade.
These horses below are huge and are also adorned with decorations. The white building you with the watch is the City Hall of Neumarkt. I was inside this building as the history of this city was told to us during my German language course. Have fun viewing the photos in this blog.

Gäubodenvolksfest in Straubing in Bavaria, Germany
Welcome to the second largest festival in Bavaria, Germany, the Gäubodenvolksfest in Straubing. Actually guys this festival is already over. It is considered to be the second largest festival next to Oktoberfest of October Festival in Munich in the state of Bavaria. It is said that there are more than a million of guests and visitors who visit this festival every year. It is held in the middle of August and lasted for eleven days.
What caught most of my attention as we visited the festival was, a lot of German people wore the so-called Trachten, Dirdl and Lederhose which are considered to be the national costume of Germany. I also visited Oktoberfest in Munich last year but there were more people last month in Gäubodenvolksfest in Straubing who wore Trachten, Dirdl and Lederhose or leather pants in this festival.
I truly appreciate and admire how the German people preserve their culture and tradition through festivals like these. More updates to come about this famous festival in Bavaria.

The Gäubodenvolksfest was founded by Maximilian I Joseph, King of Bavaria in the year 1812 as an agricultural festival to organize an annual meeting of the people in the Danube region.

Did you see that ladies who wear dresses? those are only example of Trachten or Dirdl costumes

My Euro Travel in Gaeubodenvolksfest in Straubing, Germany
Yesterday was such a wonderful day and a perfect weather as the Gaeubodenvolksfest is celebrated in Straubing, a city in Bavaria, Germany. Before we went to the festival site, we go around first to the "Altstadt" or old city of Straubing. I saw again a lot of historical buildings, monuments, churches and architectures which I love. After spending around two hours in the old city, we proceeded to the festival which is around ten minutes walk from the old city.
At the festival, there is also a show that is going on until today. It is called the Ostbayernschau. Here you can see a lot of stuffs that are for sale and being displayed. There are some companies that sell motorhome, household supplies and equipments, garden machines, hardware products, cars, motorcycles, handmade products, horse accessories, clothes and a lot more.
This festival is considered to the second largest public festival in the state of Bavaria, Germany. There are also beer tents, a lot of games and entertainments, food kiosks, variety of rides like ferris wheel, free fall, helicopter, octopus and a lot more. Euro Travel in Jura Volksfest in Neumarkt id Opf, Bavaria, Germany
As we were taking our brunch this morning since we already woke-up late, we decided to go to the Jura Volksfest Parade in Neumarkt i.d. Opf., a city in Bavaria, Germany. My husband asked me what time I want to leave because the parade starts at 2PM. I told him that around 12:45 pm, we live the house then so that we can also find a good parking place for our car. This city is around 30 to 40 minutes drive from where we live depending on the traffic.
After we took our brunch, I still did some things and around 12:45 pm exactly, my dear hubby already called me that we are leaving soon. You know women, sometimes it takes too long to dress up if not doing other things. We ended up leaving at 1:00 PM. Good to know, we still found a park place which is around 5 minutes walk to the Altstad or old city of Neumarkt. We were amazed because there were a lot of different groups who participated the parade. In fact the lady standing right next to us told us that around 120 groups participated during the Jura Volksfest Parade today.
I always visit the Jura Volksfest or Jura Public Festival every year but this is the first time that I witnessed the parade. It was fantastic seeing participants with different colourful costumes, horse carriage that are also decorated, Trachten or German National costumes with different colors and designs, different bands who played traditional music and modern ones, acrobats of different kinds, animals of some kinds, young and old participants with their own motives and a lot more! here are some photos which my husband took today. Feel free to visit Explore Germany site for more photos and updates! It's time to say goodnight!
