Paris Sightseeing

I miss Paris! This is one of the beautiful cities I visited in Europe. The capital city of France is dubbed as the "City of Lights" and "Capital of Fashion". I had been to this city twice and I am lucky to get some cheap flights to Paris during my trips. I am still planning to visit again this city in the future because there are still some sights and attractions that I did not see during my previous trips.

For now, I want to share the top 3 famous sights I visited in Paris.

Eiffel Tower

There are a lot of interesting and beautiful sights in Paris but its iconic symbol is the Eiffel Tower. This magnificent tower was built in 1889 and was named after its designer Gustave Eiffel.

I had seen this structure twice but I never had the chance to go up to the tower. That is also the reason why I want to go back to Paris.

Arc de Triomphe

I had seen the replica of Arc de Triomphe in Paris Las Vegas. The Siegestor, a triumphal arch in Munich, the Brandenburger Tor in Berlin and the Arch of Constantine in Rome, also looks like almost the same as the Arc of Triomphe in Paris. I was able to visit all of these historical monuments but the Arc de Triomphe in Paris is very much unique and much more beautiful.

Called in English as Triumphal Arch or the Arch of Triumph, it honors those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars. It was designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1806.

Notre Dame Cathedral

Also known as Our Lady of Paris, it is an impressing Gothic Catholic cathedral on the eastern half of the Ile de la Cite. It was the inspiration for Victor Hugo's novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This is a very interesting architecture because it was among the first buildings in the world to use the flying buttress, some sort of arched exterior supports.

There are a lot of important events that took place in this cathedral such as the beatification and canonization of Joan of Arc, the marriage of James V of Scotland and Madeleine, Mass celebrated by Pope John Paul II and many more. No wonder this Cathedral has become one of the famous sights in Paris.

There are still a lot of stunning landmarks in Paris. The Pantheon, Sacré Coeur, Catacombs, Sainte Chapelle, Assemblée Nationale, are only some of it. Versailles is also worth to see. Paris is also home to famous museums and galleries such as the the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Les Invalides, Picasso Museum and a lot more.

I guess, I am very lucky to go inside the Louvre Museum during my first visit in Paris.

London, England

I finally shared a photo today. See the above caption where it is in London. I finally visited this place whihc is one of the famous, historical and interesting places in London. A lot of people were here last time as we went here. It is because every 11am the so-called "changing of the guards" is taking place here everyday at this time. That was a cool ceremony. I hope to share more photos once I will be back to Germany! happy Sunday!! take care guys!!

The Big Ben in London

I was finally in the famous and one of the most visited place in London, The Big Ben Tower!!
here is a little info about the famous Big Ben from my dear Wikipedia..

Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock in the clock tower of the Palace of Westminster. The nickname is often also used to refer to the clock and the tower.
The clock is the world's largest four-faced, chiming clock in the second largest free-standing clock tower in the world. The clock tower is situated at the north-eastern end of the Houses of Parliament in Westminster, London. The Big Ben clock tower has been referred to incorrectly as St Stephen's Tower, which is actually the spired tower towards the middle of the Palace and is also the main point of entry for attendees of debates and committees.

Of course, I would like to see Queen Elizabeth in Buckingham Palace in London during my vacation in England last year. Sad to say she got no time for me..hahaha! juts kidding guys..I know that I am nobody and a Queen don't have the time to see anybody like me..But who knows next time I can meet her and the Royal family somewhere. Mind you, I had a pose with them at Madame Tussaud. I'll share the pictures next time! have a great weekend..

Queen's Life Guard in London, England

I am sharing a photo with the Queen's Life Guard during my visit in London, England last year. I truly enjoyed my vacation there.

I had a photo with him...but I don;t know his name..hehehe

The Queen's Life Guard is the mounted guard at the entrance to Horse Guards. Horse Guards is the official main entrance to both St James's Palace and Buckingham Palace (a tradition that stems from the time when The Mall was closed at both ends); however, sentries have been posted there since the Restoration, when the Palace of Whitehall was the main royal residence. The guard is on horseback from 10am until 4pm, with the two sentries changing every hour. From 4pm until 8pm a pair of dismounted sentries remain. At 8pm, the gates of Horse Guards are locked, and a single sentry remains until 7am.

When The Queen is in London, the Guard consists of 1 Officer, 1 Corporal Major (who carries the Standard), 2 Non-Commissioned Officers, 1 Trumpeter and 10 Troopers. This is known as a Long Guard. When Her Majesty is not resident in London, the Guard is reduced to 2 Non-Commissioned Officers and 10 Troopers. This is known as a Short Guard.

The guard is usually provided by the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, with the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals alternating. When the HCMR leaves London for a month of summer training (and vacation for the horses), the guard is provided by the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery. Only two other regiments have had the honour of mounting the Queen's Life Guard; the Royal Canadian Mounted Police did so leading up to the Coronation of King George VI. Lord Strathcona's Horse did so in 2000 during the same period as the Royal Canadian Regiment provided the Queen's Guard.

Warwick Castle in Warwickshire, England..I was there

I was in Warwick Castle in Warwickshire, England. It was a dream come true as I visited this place. This castle is very enchanting and interesting. It was memorable experience as we went there because it was also All Saints Day. A lot of pumpkins were seen everywhere inside and outside the castle! It was an amazing experience. I am still planning to come back next time! but I have to go first to Paris, France this week. continue reading below for some information especially on the location of this castle.

LOCATION OF WARWICK CASTLE

Warwick Castle is situated on a sandstone bluff at a bend of the River Avon. The river, which runs below the castle on the east side, has eroded the rock the castle stands on, forming a cliff. The river and cliff form natural defences. The castle is in the town of Warwick; when construction began in 1068 four houses belonging to the Abbot of Coventry were demolished to provide room. The castle's position made it strategically important in safeguarding the Midlands against rebellion. During the 12th century, King Henry I was suspicious of Roger de Beaumont, 2nd Earl of Warwick. To counter the earl's influence, Henry bestowed Geoffrey de Clinton with a position of power rivalling that of the earl. The lands he was given included Kenilworth – a castle of comparative size, cost, and importance, and rebuilt in stone by Clinton – which is about 8 kilometres (5 mi) to the north. Warwick Castle is about 1.6 kilometres (1 mi) from Warwick railway station and less than 3.2 kilometres (2.0 mi) from junction 15 of the M40 motorway; it is also close to Birmingham International Airport.

Vienna, Austria

Vienna, one of the cities that I love in Europe. This was taken last June 2007 during my first adventure to Vienna with a friend. They are making some excavation at the fenced part in my background. I guess they are trying to find some historical relics here. I can't exactly remember what is the name of the street here..any idea? now i finally search where is this place. This was taken in Michaelerplatz where they found some Roman ruins...thanks to Wikipedia for this great info..here is a little info about Vienna.

Up Up on London Eye

I was finally there. Dream came true! The famous London Eye, I finally rode in it. You can't imagine you are at the top seeing the bird's eye view of London city. That buildings with the lights are the Parliament Houses and you can also see the Big Ben Tower. Just an important tip, it is better to get a London Pass if you are planning to visit museums or any rides there like the London Eye. London Eye has became the famous landmark of modern London since its opening in March 2000. Imagine if you ride London eye capsule, you can see up to 4o kilometers around London. Per experience, I don't have that much scene because it is already twilight as I rode in it. As you can see in the photo here, it is a little bit foggy outside because it was also raining. At least I had this great experience once in my life to ride in this famous Millemium Wheel...truly amazing experience!!

England Trip

I had a three weeks vacation to England last time. I also visited a lot of cities and places there. Thanks to good friends who also toured me in different places. Here is the chronological order or I would say the itinerary of my travel. I just want to write it here before I forget it and for record purposes.

October 27, 2008- arrived in Birmingham International airport.
October 28 - toured Birmingham City . thanks to a friend showed me the place.
Oct. 29-30 - sightseeing in London
Oct. 31 - go around Northfield, Birmingham
Nov. 01- spent Halloween at Warwick Castle in Warwickshire
Nov. 02- attended the Mass at Northfield with friend Loloy
Nov. 03- sightseeing at Stratford Upon Avon, the birthplace of the famous poet William Shakespeare.
Nov. 04 - short trip to Manchester
Nov. 05 - Sightseeing in Birmingham again
Nov. 06 - going around Northfield and have a rest day
Nov. 7-10 I went back alone to London again to visit some friends. here are the activities..
Nov. 8- watch the Lords mayor parade in London and visited my friends at Madame Tussauds...wink!!
Nov. 9 - short sightseeing at Canary Wharf, London and after that visited Windsor Castle with Rey
Nov. 10- I rode alone the famous London Eye and after that proceeded back to Northfield Birmingham
Nov. 11 - rode a train to visit a friend in Harrogate which is situated near the border of Wales..went a little bit sightseeing there.
Nov. 12- made a one day trip to Yorkshire with Ros
Nov. 13- sightseeing at Leeds
Nov. 14- short trip to Knaresborough and rode a train back to Birmingham
Nov. 15- sightseeing at Cadbury Choco factory and proceeded to Birmingham Christmas market with Loloy
Nov. 16 - should be backed to Germany but due to bad circumstances with Ryanair, returned trip did not push through
Nov. 17, 2008 I am finally back to my second home, Germany

I am finally done with my travel and adventure in England. Over all, I would say that was a great and exciting trip that was materialized due to friends goodness. Hopefully next time I can find a cheap and great travel deals in going to Paris, France or Rome in Italy..That's all for today guys, I need to cook now before hubby comes!! Leeds, England Christmas Market

Leeds is a very cool place for shopping. As we went here, it was raining but we still able to survive in the rain because there are just a lot of shopping malls here where you can spend time inside while enjoying things to shop. we also went to the place where they held annually their Christmas market but it was still not officially open. Most German people are still putting up their stalls and kiosks as we went there. Hopefully next time again...Happy Sunday to all!!

One of my greatest dream in life is to travel around the world. I am presently living in Europe. I have been to the different cities and countries here and I truly love it. I would say traveling is one of my passion. If I only have a lot of money or if I win in lottery, I want to travel the whole world too! I might even go for a space trip! I always wanted to go to Paris in France or Rome in Italy. I had been to Paris but in Las Vegas and to Caesars Palace which also resembles Rome. I had a lot of fun during my two months vacation in the United States wherein I stayed most of the time in Las Vegas. Do you travel to entertain yourself too! Travel for me is also a part of entertaining myself. This is especially true if I see very interesting places like historical ones. Some might not be interested about it but I am. I compare traveling like a home theater carpeting wherein I see live these places that interest me. A very good example is my travel here in the United Kingdom. I might not see all the places but I have an idea how the people live here and I can also differentiate how each people from each country have their own living. Warwick Castle

I am still in England. Time is just running so fast! I am more than a week now..Yesterday we went to Manchester. Not that much to see in Manchester compared to Birmingham and London but seeing the place is also a great experience. I still did not uploaded some photos from my digital camera. Yesterday, we went home so tired and hungry already. My friend Dae Loy decided to stop in the Chinese Restaurant just a walk away from her home. We ordered a yummy Chow Mein. I don't know if the cook in the Chinese Restaurant used some sort of paella pan when cooking it. Maybe yes, maybe no..I just exactly don't know!! we see!! I am just sharing a photo for now taken at Warwick Castle last Saturday!! cool castle!! so many nice things to see here!!
