It Was Sunny in York, England

It was autumn during my visit in York, England last 2008 but the weather was not really so cold compared to where I live in Europe. I only wore a  sweatshirt and long shirt underneath and I was already good. The weather was also sunny which is perfect for sightseeing.

A friend who lives in Harrogate toured me in this city. Thanks a lot Ross for your time and effort in touring me around. Truly appreciated!

York is a walled city, situated at the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England.  We visited some sights including the Shambles (a medieval street in York), the Minster (Cathedral of York), had a walk on the Stonegate, Clifford's Tower and we also had a walk around the Old City.

I love these old but historical and nice buildings in Yorkshire, England. I was there last year and happy to share this photo to you.Thanks to a dear friend and kababayan, Ross for everything during my visit in England!! Thanks also to other friends who are very generous and kind. I hope to visit Mexico next time and stay in different nuevo vallarta hotels. I had seen in their site that they have good ones. Hopefully next year, I can visit this country especially in Cancun Island. I had also seen beautiful and interesting stuffs in Cancun. I'm still on vacation right now! take care guys!

Visit to Clifford Tower in York, England

I had the chance to visit York in England last year. You can also see in the photo the Clifford Tower in York. It is one of its landmark. York (pronounced /ˈjɔrk/ is a former walled city, situated at the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Foss in North Yorkshire, England. The city has a rich heritage and provided the backdrop to major political events throughout much of its two millennia of existence.

The city was founded and named Eboracum in 71 AD by the Romans who made it the capital of their Province of Britannia Inferior.[4] At the end of Roman rule in 415 AD the settlement was taken over by the Angles and the city was renamed Eoforwic. It served as the capital of the Anglian Kingdom of Northumbria. When the Vikings captured the city in 866 AD they renamed it Jórvík and it became the capital of a wider kingdom of the same name covering much of Northern England. After the Norman Conquest, the name "York", which was first used in the 13th century, gradually evolved. In the Middle Ages York grew as a major wool trading centre and the ecclesiastical capital of the northern province of England. The Province of York is still one of the two Church of England ecclesiastical provinces, alongside that of Canterbury.

The 19th century saw York, under the influence of George Hudson, become an important hub of the railway network and a manufacturing centre. In recent decades the economy of York has moved from being dominated by its confectionary and railway related industries to being a provider of services, with the University of York and health services being major employers. Tourism also boosts the local economy because the city offers a wealth of historic attractions and cultural activities.
