Having Fun Cruising in Danube River in Bavaria

Another week is almost coming. We just watched over the television the Oktoberfest parade in Munich, Bavaria. It is very interesting seeing groups and participants with their own costumes and motifs that brings back German's history especially the Bavarian culture and tradition.

Back to our cruise yesterday in Danube River. We started the cruise in Kelheim, a municipality in Bavaria, Germany. Our cruise ended in Kloster Weltemburg, a baroque monastery located directly on Danube River. That was about an hour trip from Kelheim to Kloster Weltemburg but it was a fascinating cruise seeing the different sights especially the rocky hills along the river. You can also see the Befrieungshalle or the Liberation Hall, also called Hall of Freedom built by King Ludwig I, King of Bavaria while cruising.

We took our lunch in the Monastery and had the chance to visit again the famous Asamkirche or Asam Church with its magnificent frescos on its ceiling and the beautiful paintings inside the church. This is already our second visit to this place but it is our first time to had a cruise in Danube River. Over all it was a very nice experience.

I will try to give you more information in a couple of days about Kloster Weltemburg, Befrieungshalle or the Hall of Liberation and the famous Asamkirche or Asam Church. Have a great week ahead!

Visit To Willibald Castle in Eichstaett, Bavaria,Germany

It's TGIF again! We can't make a short trip tomorrow because there will a party going on in the house. Probably on Sunday we will go for a short sightseeing somewhere in the nearby city. So here are my photos which are taken in Willibald Castle in Eichstaett in the state of Bavaria, Germany. We where there around two weeks ago! Have a great weekend to all!

My Euro Travel to the Imperial Castle of Nuremberg in Bavaria , Germany

I had been to Nürnberg, (also written as Nuernberg or Nuremberg in English) for a lot of times already. Sometimes me and my friends drove here to go to the Asian store. We also try to go here every year for the celebration of Chriskindlesmarkt or Christmas Market Festival. The first time we went to the castle was in December 2007. I was not able to set my camera date, that is why you see the embedded date as 2005. We also went up to the hill on the castle and saw the whole city of Nuremberg. I hope I can see more photos in my files to share next time.


Nuremberg Castle (German: Nürnberger Burg) is located on a sandstone rock in the north of the historical city of Nuremberg, Germany. It comprises three parts: the Emperor's buildings ("Kaiserburg"), the mostly built buildings of the rulers of Nuremberg ("Burggrafenburg"), and the buildings on the eastern side ("städtische Burganlage"). My Euro Travel in Landshut Bavaria, Germany

First of all, I would like to greet all American people a happy and memorable Independence Day! God bless you all and America! It was a very great day today after we had an escapade in Landshut, a city in the state of Bavaria, Germany. It was the first time that I visited the Altstadt or old city of Landshut. I always passed this place before when we go anywhere in Lower Bavaria. Sometimes we also passed this city when we travel by train going to Munich or Ingolstadt.

I was amazed by the beauty of the place especially the the old and historical buildings here. One resident of the city told us that it was not destroyed during the wars in the time of Hitler. Most of the old but nice buildings at that time still stood until now. This city was truly beautiful! The main reason why we also visited this place is the celebration of its famous festival called the Landshuter Hochzeit 1475 or Landshut Wedding. It was truly a very nice day today after witnessing this celebration. more updates and photos in my Travel and Explore Germany site.

Visit To The St. Martin Church in Lengenfeld in Upper Palatinate, Bavaria

After I went around the Trachtenfest in Lengenfeld, a small town in Upper Palatinate in the State of Bavaria, Germany I decided to visit their historical St. Martin Church. This is a baroque architecture which was built around 1140. It is already centuries years old. I noticed that most Churches in Bavaria have Baroque styles. What always fascinates me are the beautiful paintings on the ceilings of these Churches. I guess this is all for today. My Euro Travel to the Trachtenfest in Lengenfeld, Germany

It was a great day today even though it was raining so hard in our place this morning. The weather in the afternoon was a bit better as we went to Lengenfeld where the Trachtenfest is celebrated. It started today and will end on Sunday, June 14. As you can see in the pictures here, the ladies and gentlemen are wearing special kind of clothes. These are the different styles and designs of the so-called trachten. I will give you more information about this German festival in my Travel and Explore Germany site.

My Euro Travel in Nabburg in Oberpfalz, Germany

We made a short trip in some municipalities in the Oberpfalz or Upper Palatinate here in Bavaria, Germany. One of the places we visited is Nabburg. It is is a municipality in the district of Schwandorf, in Bavaria, Germany. It is situated on the river Naab, 23 km east of Amberg. It is around one hour drive from our place. This municipality is not so big but it is full of history. I can see it as we went walking around the old town.

You can see the background of my picture here, that is the Gothic St. John the Baptist Church in Nabburg. It was built around 1400. It was said that the Church had two towers before but now it has one tower. It is called or designated as cathedral by many people. Sad to say, I was not able to go inside the Church yesterday because there was a funeral mass. My husband don't want me also because he knows that once I go inside the Church, I can't stop to take pictures and might be a disturbance during the mass. St. John the Baptist Church in Nabburg is also considered to be the most outstanding and important Gothic Church in Upper Palatinate, Bavaria. My Euro Travel in Frankfurt, Germany

Frankfurt is considered to be the Manhattan of Germany. It is Germany's financial and transportation centre. You can see in this city a lot of banking and financial institutions that also make it as the financial centre in continental Europe. You can see some skycrapers in my picture here. Escape To The Castle Ruins of Donaustauf

Yesterday was a great day for me. I am just a bit sad but felt happy again because my favorite for Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar or known shortly as DSDS won. That's also the reason why I took a short break some minutes ago to watch the verdict of the people. Anyway, I will give you more update of this once I upload the photo tomorrow. I guess my title is also right! I had an escape with my husband yesterday at the castle ruins in Donaustauf after we went to Walhalla and Gewerbepark in Regensburg. For now, I am just sharing this very beautiful view of the Castle ruins with the Danube River as the background! Amazing place! Beautiful view!

The Walhalla Temple in Donaustauf in Bavaria, Germany

If Greece has the so-called Parthenon, Germany has also the so-called Walhalla. According to the book which I bought about Walhalla, it is a Hall of Fame and Honor where German people are being recognized due to his/her achievements, great job done or any exemplary works. The Walhalla Hall of Fame and Honor is a neo-classical hall of fame located on the Danube River 10 km east of Regensburg, in Bavaria, Germany. It was built between 1830 and 1842 by the architect Leo von Klenze.

It was the idea of 20-year-old Crown Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria in 1807, at a time when the German states were defeated and occupied by Napoleon. It was meant as a place for the commemoration of great figures and events in ethnic German history, at the time covering 1,800 years, beginning with the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest (9 AD).

Whereas the Valhalla of Norse mythology was home to those gloriously slain in battle, Ludwig's Walhalla was intended not only for warriors but also for scientists, writers, clerics and specifically also for women. read more here
