Visit to Salzburg, the City of Sounds and Music

Hello Europe! Hello Spring season! I can't wait for the coming of spring! Tomorrow will be the beginning of the meteorological spring season. I heard it over the news and I am very excited because I can slowly see the first spring flowers in the backyards.

Anyway, I am planning for the next travels again. I already booked the first trip for this year and still planning for the rest of the vacation for this year. I am planning to book a musical show anywhere in Europe. I am already deciding whether  to go back to Salzburg, a beautiful city in Austria. I have been there twice and still wanted to visit again.

Don't you know that it is the setting for the musical play and film The Sound of Music. That is the reason why I want to  go back there. I already watched the movie but seeing it live might be better. I need to get a guitar instruments at MF to learn how to play a guitar.  This movie  inspires me to learn how to play a musical instrument. Hopefully, one of these day, I can do it. Why not?

Don't you also know  that Salzburg is also the birthplace of the of 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart? I visited his birth house during my first visit there. It was really interesting especially if you love music.

Went Window Shopping in Crystal World in Wattens

Hello folks! Another week is starting again. We are already in the middle of September and it seems that Christmas is approaching near. I am not really in a hurry for the coming yuletide season. How about you? I remembered a friend's daughter who asked her how many days more before Christmas? Hmmm..this also means that she has to get slowly ready for Christmas presents to her daughter. yay!

Awhile ago, I was browsing some photo albums in my laptop. I found some photos taken during my trip with a friend in Wattens, Austria last year. We actually had a short stop-over at the Swarovski Kristallwelten museum or Swarovski Crysral World museum. I was really amazed when we went inside the museum. The museum features the history of crystal manufacturing, the life of Daniel Swarovski and a large collection of crystals including works by notable artists like Brian Eno and Niki de Saint Phalle.

It great to browse some photo albums from my previous travels. It took me almost two hours seeing some pictures from Turkey, Czech Republic, Italy, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Austria, United States of America, Canada, Lithuania, Sweden, Russia, England, Ireland and a lot more. I can't imagine traveling to over 30 countries as of now. Thanks God for the opportunity to see and experience many places and countries inspite living a simple life. Indeed, I felt blessed!

It has been my wish to visit Salzburg, a beautiful city in Austria. And if you are more familiar with this city, it is also the birthplace of the famous 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Salzburg is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 due to its internationally renowned beautiful baroque architecture. It is also one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps.

I have been to Salzburg for the fourth time already. I accompanied some friends in all of my visits there. One of my favorite streets in this city is the Getreidegasse, literally means the "Grain Street". This is where you can find a lot of signature shops. There is also a music house or a store that sells various music instruments. If you cannot visit Salzburg and want to buy shopping online is the best thing to do. For example, an alto sax mouthpiece from musicians friend is also a good choice if you are looking for one.

Experiencing some musical shows in Salzburg  is oen of  the things I miss during  my visits. Although, I already visited it four times, we only spent a day during my visits. I hope in my next visit, I can already have some overnights there.

Mini-cruise in Wachau, Austria

 It seems that  my first days of December has been so busy.The busiest was  the first day of the 12th month of the year.  We've been  installing, moving and rearranging furniture at home. Finally I ma back here now.

It's time to remember again wonderful trips from the past. The mini-cruise  I had with a friend in Danube in Wachau region in Austria was an awesome one.  I can't avoid  to say beautiful  about the picturesque landscape in this part of Austria.  Our cruise started  in  Spitz and ended up in Krems. During the cruise, you cannot only see the beauty of nature around but also experience to see historical architectures like churches, castle ruins, monastery and  buildings of interest.

That was a short but a very awesome and relaxing cruise trip in  Danube River.

Wachau is one of the most famous tourist destination in Lower Austria.

Passing By in Dürnstein During A Cruise in Danube River

Danube River, called in German as Donau Fluss is the second longest river  in Europe after  Volga. I already  experienced a lot of short cruises on this  river. One of the it was the cruise we had in Austria which started in Spitz. One of the towns we passed-by was Dürnstein.  This beautiful town is located in the Krems-Land district in the state of Lower Austria. It is considered to be one of the most visited town in the region of Wachau.

The town has a medieval castle  on the top of a hill. Dürnstein is a historical town which was first mentioned in 1192.

I took some snapshots during our cruise in this area last summer 2011. It was a wonderful one seeing the nature  that surrounds Danube.

My 4th Visit in Salzburg, Austria

I should be in Andorra and France  this coming July 1-7, 2012 but it did not  materialized. This is the problem if you are travelling alone sometimes. I called the travel agency last week  that I am willing to pay the  extra charge for single room occupancy but they said  that  there no available  single  rooms anymore. I thought you  will be paying the extra room charge  if you are alone in a double-room. This is quite confusing. But anyway, that trip might not really for me. There are might be other destinations destined for me next month or in August.  I will just wait and see!

For now, I just want to share some images taken during my 4th visit in  Salzburg, Austria. And yes, last  month was my fourth visit to this lovely city of Austria.

Salzburg, the birthplace of the famous composer and musician named Mozart  is also famous for  the setting of the movie, The Sound of Music.  How about climbing to the top of Hohensalzburg fortress?  I did not really climb its top due to time constraint but I was able to go up to the top of the castle by riding the furnicular. If you love shopping, the Getreidegasse is the perfect place for you. This is the famous shopping street in this city.

There are just a lot of things to do and experience in this city. Even I was there for the fourth  time already, I still did not see everything in it. Still hoping for another come back huh?

My Euro Travel Getreidegasse in Salzburg, Austria

It is time to travel again! I just made a random choice what city I am going to share for tonight's update. I landed in Salzburg, Austria. Salzburg is one of the interesting cities I visited in Europe. I love it here not only because it is the birthplace of the famous song writer and composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart but the place itself is truly amazing. Before I forget it let me share first this link for those who are looking for life insurance online quote. In times of emergency having a life insurance is a form of security for our family. To continue with my main topic, this image was taken in Getreidegasse, a famous street in Salzburg which also means Grain Lane in English. This street is considered to be the busiest one being a shopping street as you can see in my photo here. It is also one of the oldest streets in Salzburg. You can also notice the wrought-iron guild signs hanging above the shops here as one of the features of the buildings. I love Salzburg. That is also the reason why I already visited it twice. Maybe comes the third or forth visit next time.

Winter Trip to Gut Aiderbichl in Austria

Yesterday was the hottest day in Germany and it was really very hot. That is the reason why I am posting some pictures from the snow of Austria last year to cool us off! wink! This was taken in Gut Aiderbichl during my winter trip last November 2008 with a friend. It is nice being with nature and animals for sometime. My Euro Travel in Salzburg, Austria

I'm here again! I'm feeling fresh after relaxing inside the bath tub for almost an hour. We are visiting this time Salzburg, one's of Austria's great city and its 4th largest city. In the picture here, you can see Neptunbrunnen or the so-called Neptune's Fountain. It was built in 1772 by the sculptor Anton Pfaffinger and was one of the horse ponds of the Cathedral Chapter.

This city was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage in 1997. I find Salzburg very interesting and also worthy to visit. I will also share some more photos of the places and cities I visited in Austria. have fun viewing the photos in this site! I hope you also travel Europe through this blog.

Horror in Amstetten and the monster named Josef Fritzl

Have you been in Amstetten? Have you heard or read the story about the so-called "monster father" named Josef Fritzl? I have been reading Neumarkter Tagblatt, a local German newspaper here in Germany since Monday about Josef Fritzl. It is always in the front page for 4 days row now. Before I begin with this horrible story let me tell you first a bit about Amstetten.

Amstetten, as you can see in the google map below is a town in Lower Austria. It is the capital of Amstetten District. Why I know this place? During my adventure last June 2007 in Austria, we passed by in Amstetten boarding a train. Me and my friend saw a lot of towns and municipalities as we rode the train from Salzburg to Vienna. That was a very long trip.
What about Josef Fritzl? As described by Neumarkter Tagblatt newspaper, he was called "The monster father" after raping more than thousand times his own daughter and locking her on their basement for 24 years? Can you imagine a life in the basement without seeing light for 24 years? Fritzl's daughter named Elizabeth was raped since she was 11 years old. She also has 7 children with her own father wherein 6 were alive and 1 was dead after some hours of giving birth. The baby was also burned in the oven by his own father and grandfather at the same time.

Can you imagine this horror? How can a father do this to his child? I know we already heard a lot of stories about children who are sexually abused by their own father. But this story is different. It is very horrible, terrible, hideous and dreadful. What else can I say? It totally shocked me and I can't fathom on my mind how can a father do that to his own child? Is he in his normal mind? What can you say about this my friends? I know I can't judge people because I don't have the right to do so. But if ever you have to ask me of the kind of sentence that Fritzl had done, I would say, he must pay for it by being sentenced to life imprisonment. I also can't say that he will be sentenced to death because I believed that only God can take away people's lives. Anyway, today if I'm not he is already sentenced to life's imprisonment. I believed that is a fair and just verdict.

Here is an excerpt of the story;

"Police spokesman Franz Polzer told CNN that 73-year-old Josef Fritzl admitted holding his daughter, Elisabeth Fritzl, 42, hostage in the windowless cell and fathering seven children by her.

"The mother had memories [of the outside world] and got used to the situation," Polzer told a press conference Monday afternoon. "The others knew nothing else."

The main question reverberating from the small Austrian town: How could a man keep his daughter locked in his basement for 24 years, where she gave birth to seven of his children while her mother and three of those children lived upstairs without an inkling of the horrors in the cellar?

Gut Aiderbichl, Austria

This was in Gut Aiderbichl, an Animal Sanctuary in Austria during a bus trip. This was inside their Christmas Market. They have different animals here like horses, ponies, wild pigs, pigs, dogs, ducks and a lot more. Some animals came from different countries. That was a nice trip their last November 2008.

Vienna the capital of Austria is one of the most beautiful cities I had been too here in Europe. I was really amazed by the beauty and charm of this city. I love it here!!The old but beautiful buildings that tells us of Vienna's history are the that really amazed me..As we went around the city, all I can say was Wow....beautiful!! hope to be back there next time!!

The Austrian Parliament Building, (German: Parlament or Hohes Haus, formerly the Reichsratsgebäude), is where the two Houses of the Parliament of Austria conduct their sittings. The building lies at the Ringstraße in the first district Innere Stadt in Vienna, close by the Hofburg Imperial Palace and the Palace of Justice.

The main construction lasted from 1874 to 1883. The architect responsible for the building was Baron Theophil von Hansen, the building is an example of Greek revival. The architect von Hansen designed the building as an ensemble, where each piece harmonised with the rest. He was therefore also responsible for the interior decoration such as statues, paintings, furniture, chandeliers, and other elements. One of the building's most famous features is the statue of Athena and the fountain, a notable Viennese tourist attraction. Despite heavy damages and destruction during World War II, most of the interior has been restored to its original appearance.

The parliament building covers over 13,500 square meters, making it one of the largest structures on the Ringstraße. It was constructed to house the two chambers of the Reichsrat, the legislature of the Austrian part (Cisleithania) of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Today, the parliament building is seat of the National Council (Nationalrat) and the Federal Council (Bundesrat). It contains over 100 rooms, the most important of which are the Chambers of the National Council, the Federal Council and the former imperial House of Representatives (Abgeordnetenhaus). The building also includes committee rooms, libraries, lobbies, dining-rooms, bars and gymnasiums. It is the site of important state ceremonies, most notably the swearing-in ceremony of the President of Austria and the state speech on National Day on each October 26. The building is very closely associated with the two Houses, as shown by the use of "Hohes Haus" as a metonym for "Parliament". Parliamentary offices overspill into nearby buildings such as the Palais Epstein.

Salzburg, Austria

One of the famous and historical city in Austria is Salzburg. I would say, Salzburg is one of the most beautiful cities I had been to. It's attraction is a mixture of the flair of the Altstadt which means Old Town, the many magnificent churches and the old burgers (people) residences with their splendid facades.

It is also the grandeur of the buildings of the prince-archbishops, the outstanding fortress and the ever present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Salzburg's favourite son.

Salzburg is such a beautiful city worth visiting for!! hope you enjoy the photos..will share some more next time!! have a great day to all!!

Vienna, Austria

We have a great time last year in June with a friend from UK named Dae Loloy in Austria. One of the places and city we visited was in Vienna. I love this city and was very much fascinated with its beauty and magnificent historical enchantment. That was really a very great experience. I am hoping to be back there next time!!
